Employers Should Pay Interns (In Wage or Salary)

Possible unpopular opinion alert

The other day I read the 9,999,999th article (slight exaggeration) that defended an employer’s decision to run unpaid internship programs.

The author lamented that she has had to teach interns “how to use the telephone.” So what? A lack of familiarity with the telephone does not diminish that interns value and worth as an employee.

I hold this sentiment for interns on all fields, not just data science.
