By the end of this guide, you’ll see how easy it is to set up Quarto, create a simple document, and view it in your browser. Once you’ve mastered these basics, you’ll be ready to explore Quarto’s more advanced features, like dynamic code execution and publishing to various formats such as HTML, PDF, and slides.

Installing and configuring Quarto will work best when the computer also has an installation of a recent edition of Python and Jupyter Notebooks. Before proceeding to install Quarto I recommend installing both Python and Jupyter Notebooks via the Anaconda distribution of Python.

The Anaconda distribution will best serve most users looking to learn, study, practice, write about, or explore data science. Take my advice, avoid other installation options. Go right for the Anaconda distribution. Also, avoid mini-conda.

To first install the Anaconda distribution download files and instructions here: https://www.anaconda.com/download
